Meandering

traversable landscape on a Möbius strip

Meandering is a large paper Möbius strip viewed by threading the strip through two cellulose acetate loops. Each loop has an organism which traverses from left to right through environments inked on the strip. The right-side loop has some difficulty crossing the junctions of the strip; the left-side organism "learns" from the right-side organism, slipping across the junctions with ease.

It is impossible to take in the entire work in a single glance; one must take their time journeying with the organisms. Though the characters and environments don't have a set story to them, doll-like handling of the organisms spurs the viewer to conjure up how a backstory of the two organisms are related to one another and their environment. When the viewer puts down the work, they internally form a personal conclusion as to whether or not the organisms reached their goal, whatever that may be.
